Rikki-tikki-tavi” is a story written by Rudyard Kipling. It about a young mongoose whose name is Rikki-tikki, who is washed away from his mongoose family in a summer flood. Eventually he ends up at a bungalow in India, and is taken in by an english family. Throughout the story, Rikki-tikki proves that he is angry, curious, and fast.

Rikki-tikki shows great anger when he first meets Nag. “Rikki-tikki felt his eyes growing red and hot (when a mongoose's eyes grow red, he is angry)...” Rikki-tikki did not expect to have to deal with a cobra. But only seconds later he learns that there is yet a second cobra that he’ll have to deal with, (Nagaina).
