Many have argued that Zemeckis' film techniques were not up to par in the films he creates. In the film What Lies Beneath Zemeckis did achieve an effective thriller by using special effects tools and actors contributing to the theme that things are not always as they seem.

An effective tool Zemeckis uses is the many different score and sounds. He did this to show the intensity of what was happening or what was about to happen. Every time in the film if an actor would open his or her eyes a sudden loud noise rung. For instance, towards the end of the film Claire redials the police to notify them that something is wrong but suddenly Norman appears to take the phone away from her. Score was used quite a bit throughtout the film as well to give events more penachae. When Claire went down the stairs towards the end of the film she stepped on a pocket of blood Norman left behind, it normally would cause a minor sound but not one that someone could actually hear and be frightened by it. …show more content…

On the other hand when Claire was lying in the bath tub paralyzed, you could not see where Norman was, only Clair's facial exprexxions. Another camera angle that was very useful in the film was the dolly shot. When Claire was driving the truck to get awasy from Norman the camera followed every little movement and turn the truck would take. While Norman would beg for Claire to not call the cops. In the film they used a high camera angle to make him look weak and efenseless. Reactions are a big impact in the film as well to show how much people were showcked by eachother's choices. This is called a reaction shot to put infisenses on what characters intentions
