In the story, island of the blue dolphins, the Aleuts come to this island. The village and the Aleuts get into a terrible war. After they left a new ship came and pick up the remaining people of the island. Kanara gets left behind with brother, who dies soon after. Then Kanara is left alone stranded on the island for many years. Later then a new ship appears onto the island and picks up Kanara. I think that the Author is trying to say all good things come to an end. Since the Aleuts never repaid the village for using the island the village Ghalas-at declared war on the Aleuts. “It was my father and his blood was on his face. Slowly he got to his feet”(O’Dell 22). Her father died after the big war with the Aleuts. But kanara still kept it together and helped with her brother. “In the middle of the circle was Ramo. After after Ramo died Kanara was quite lonely. So she had caught the leader of the wild dogs and had made a pet. She named him Rontu. He and her were side by side. 2 years later Rontu was getting old and died and Kanara was again left lonely.”Not until I came to Mission Santa Barbara and met Father Gonzales did I learn from him that the ship had sunk in a great storm soon after it reached his country and that the whole thereboat there was no other” (O’Dell 180). At the end of the story a boat with three people that later then found the island and picked up Kanara. She found out once they got to their country that her people were not there and had all died(O’Dell 108-181).
