The new and improved electoral college shaped the future elections while playing a very crucial role in elections ever since the elections of 1796-1800. Just like the elections of 1796 and 1800, present day elections have problems. Negative Campaigning was also a thing in 1796 and 1800, just like it is in today's campaigns where there are candidates that are not really trying to put themselves out there, but trying to make the other candidate they are running against look bad. Also, in today's elections there are so many accusations about how the elections are rigged or tampered with, there were accusations back in 1796 and 1800 also. In the last election(2020), there were many accusations of the election being tampered with in some states and counties where dead people would have a vote but that would be impossible if they are dead(Jane C.
