It all started with the assassination of Archduke Ferdinand of Austria and his wife Sophie in Sarajevo. They went out in an open car, but suddenly changed their route to another direction. They stopped in the middle to take a rest, but at that same time Gavrilo Princip appeared and took the chance to shoot both of them there.This terrible event caused the war to erupt between Austria-Hungary and Serbia. Militarism, Alliances, Imperialism, and Nationalism caused every nation to join the war. One of the main causes of World War I was nationalism because many other countries enter the war to support either Austria-Hungary or Serbia. Germany, Italy, Russia, Great Britain, and France were not part of the war initially, but they decided to join and support the countries that were part of their alliances.

Russian and Austria-Hungary were training in the Balkans to gain a strong force. Serbia and Russia were on the same side and they supported each other too because they were a Slavic country.
