The aftermath of the war of 1812 cause an explosion of nationalistic feelings. The new sense of pride destroyed old political barriers by lessening voter requirements. Prior to 1815 only white, property male owners could vote for presidential elections. Between 1815 to 1840 American political system change,you became to see the rise of political participation by the common man throughout this time period, as both the number of voters and differing campaign tactics increased.The age of reform, and political campaign styles were incredibly important in the changes of political participation.In the Election of 1824 you got to see John Quincy Adams and Henry Clay in a crooked deal that became known as the “corrupt Bargain”. John Q.Adam agreed to make Henry Clay his secretary of state in return for him to be president. Examples, Jackson's Mother being called a prostitute and his wife being accused of adultery.While Adams were being accused of turning his pool table and chess set into a gambling piece and furniture.
