Germantown. After the war Washington was very powerful and the most influential man in the American Colonies. It’s not out to the realm of thought to think Washington could have taken power of the new county, and its far to say that it would have been welcomed by the American people. But Washington did not want to go from one monarchy to another. He believed in the people should have a say in their government if they were going to be taxed. So, Washington helped set up the new government, he was elected as the first president.
