As Kevin Lynch observed different cities, he discovered a common trend of planed elements that cities had implemented in their community. These elements made a huge impact by helping the city to become more successful as well as run efficient. By observing these elements, Lynch came up with his own five elements that all cities should have in order to be successful. These five elements were edges, nodes, paths, districts and landmarks.
