North Dakota is the most rural of all the states, with farms covering more than 90% of the land. It’s known for its rich oil from fosses that were left behind after Lake Agassiz dried up. In the book North Dakota History by Neil Howe, he explains how during the last Ice Age, northern North America was covered by a glacier, which alternately advanced and deteriorated with variations in the climate. Before the Ice Age, North Dakota had a sub-tropical climate much like Florida is today. This continental ice sheet covered much of central North America between 30,000 and 10,000 years ago (Howe 33).
According to the Center for Continuing Study of the California Economy (CCSCE), as of 2013, Texas has the 14th largest economy in the world. In fact, Texas has a GDP of $1.2 trillion, which comprises about 8% of the United States GDP. This income is largely the result of Texas’ large oil industry. In addition to oil, Texas has a strong agricultural system and could thrive off of the exportation of these resources. In terms of geography, Texas is ideally located next to the Gulf of Mexico, which would aid in the exportation and importation of goods.
This is because it basically fueled the south in the civil war. The economic contribution is how much money Texas had made to put towards the war. They did this by selling cotton to European countries. Since in the 18,000s texas had just been annexed by america they were doing the best they could to re-populate texas after the large loss in the texan and mexican war. So Texas decided to sell large sums of land for very cheap to attract farmers to their land which over time grew a large group of slaves using farmers who grew cotton.

Since then, the South relied on agriculture to grow their economy and based their lifestyle on it.
Another factor that contributed to this short growing period is the unfertile, rocky and sandy soil. The soil had become low in quality because that area had once been covered by glaciers. When they melted, all the rich soil was scraped off the ground and drifted through New England’s mountains and hills until it reached the south. The climate in the middle colonies was relatively hot. This caused a longer growing season compared to New England’s.
There are many environmental implications related to the effect of climate change on New England’s food production. As the climate gets warmer different crops in New England will not be able to grow therefore the industry for that crop will no longer exist for that particular crop. One product that defines New England is maple syrup. This is a product that will no longer be able to be produced in New England if the temperatures keep rising. As soon as the weather goes above freezing in the Spring the sugar maple starts to produce sap.
The climate in the Middle region is gentler than in the New England. Comparatively, they also have four seasons, however, the winters are not as cold as in New England. The summers are not as hot as in the southern region.
In fact, with all their differences, the three regions later combined to create the great nation known today as the United States. One of the big differences between the three regions was their topography and climate, which led to different types of agriculture. For instance, the New England Colonies had many mountains and forests due to its glaciers. Since it had sandy soil, short summers and long lasting winters, the Puritans who landed in New England weren’t able to farm many types of crops. The cold weather negatively impacted their agriculture.
Trade and exchange: the act of buying and selling goods, services, and ideas. Trade has been important to people so that they can obtain materials that they don’t originally have, and inherit new ideas and beliefs. Trade was such a huge part of the Olmec culture because the Olmec society was in swampy area Mexico, so trading was necessary to them because they only had limited materials available, and needed to trade for goods needed in order to survive. In the Roman Empire, there was a time known as the Pax Romana, which means Roman Peace, in which trade helped keep the peace. Christianity was founded from Judaism in Jerusalem.
The fertilizer has also made it very extremely hard to get things to grow to produce the supplements needed for cattle feed because of the cost and the drought. The Dairy industry and the industry of feeding cattle are not going in the right direction. The cost of feed is so high that cattle feeders and dairy farmers will not be able to feed their cattle. If farmers and ranchers can not feed their cattle to slaughter then there will be no more steak and hamburger meat, but on the dairy slide, you will have no more milk, butter, or cream cheese. The national beef industry is not in the greatest shape or form.
Climate and Geography in Mendocino Over the many years the climate and geography in mendocino has affected the town's development greatly. Back in the 1800s the logging industry brought to the beautiful redwood trees in search of work. But not only the redwoods bring people here, the beautiful headlands and ocean beaches are also a major attraction. The cool climate and the fresh ocean air bring people from near and far. One thing that definitely affected the growth of mendocino was its location.

Throughout term 4 we have been focusing on That Sugar Film by Damon Gameau. Damon Gameau is an Australian actor who directed and took the lead role in the documentary That Sugar Film. Whilst the documentary is biased, this is necessary in order to educate the audience effectively. The key techniques that Damon Gameau utilises in this documentary in order to persuade and position the audience to take his side are his interviews with experts, the shocking images showing the effects on your teeth, and last but not least, the most effective technique is the use of himself as a guinea pig in an experiment.
It is not very populated, some major cities being Lubbock and Amarillo. This region is as dry and hot as the rest of Texas but gets snow. Its northern location in the Panhandle allows for cooler temperatures. There are many uses for this land, such as farming and cattle. This region also includes Midland and Odessa, two oil-rich cities known around the country for their oil, proving the variety of resources in the vast Texas.
