The Nez Perce refused to sign the agreement that said they would give their land to the government and they said that they were not bothering anyone. However, the settlers did not like Native Americans and accused the Nez Perce of stealing horses and killing their farm animals. Soon after, White Bird attacked the fort and won the battle. In retaliation, the Union attacked the Nez Perce’s allies. As a result, the Nez Perce ran with their fellow allies to an area in Montana that is now known as Yellowstone.
Through “Sweatshop Oppression,” an essay written by Rajeev Ravisankar, the reader gains insight on the truthful and factual reality of oppressive workplace conditions. Ravisankar seeks to appeal to the morals and values of the audience by having relatable content and using the emotion and logic based rhetorical devices “pathos” and “logos.” In the opening paragraph the author connects with the audience by inclusively saying: “being the “poor” college students that we all are, many of us undoubtedly place an emphasis on finding the lowest prices” (). Through revealing he is a student with mutual financial struggles, the audience quickly picks up on his relatable and likeable voice.
I have never heard of a sweat lodge or even have the slightest clue what it is. I found it very interesting that this a purification process and all of the specifics that are necessary for this process. There are so many different specifics that are necessary that they must follow for the ceremony to take place. This has to be something that is very important to them if it is so serious.
Albert Einstein once said “insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.” The Nez Perce had something to the same affect for instance, trusting the Europeans with treaties and being let down once then over again. Trading with the Europeans even if they deemed them unsuitable to keep land. In essence, the reason the Nez Perces were led to their demise is because of the continuation of trust between them and the whites who arrived in the Northwest moreover, how the Nez Perces stayed in a relationship with them. A relationship that was full of curiosity, misunderstanding and miscommunication that showed how it slowly went from choice to control for the Nez Perce.
Another similarity between the novel and the myth is that both have someone surviving the end of the world. In Summerland, Coyote

In Zora Neale Hurston’s short story “Sweat” and her essay “How It Feels to Be Colored Me” the African American social group is being represented in many ways. The texts have similar ways that African Americans are represented for the time period. The African Americans or “colored people” are represented in an aspect that comes from the author's point of view. The African Americans are represented as being unbothered, growing up in a closed community, playing the game with whites, and optimistic.

Louise and Delia What do most women want in a marriage? Is it hatred and an unfaithful husband? No! Women expect to have a husband who loves and cares for them.
“Sweat” by Zora Neale Hurtson exemplifies the amount of disrespect and domestic abuse a woman can handle. It also demonstrated how some males view women in a distasteful and unsatisfied way. Gender and sexuality can initiate most of the specific tactics of domestic violence that can dehumanize an individual, especially women. Zora Neale Hurtson’s character, Delia Jones, demonstrates how women can transition from being inferior to becoming superior in a domestic relationship. The story opened with Delia washing clothes for white people on Sunday, and Sykes verbally abused her for dishonoring God because she was washing clothes that belong to white people on the Sabbath day.
In the short story Sweat written by Zora Neale Hurston, she tells the story of a hard-working woman named Delia Jones and her abusive, cheating husband Sykes. Delia and Sykes are drastically different characters. Delia is an honest, church going woman, who cleans white people 's laundry to make ends meet and Skyes is a low-down womanizer who uses his wife 's income to support not only himself but also Bertha the woman he is having an affair with. After years of putting up with her husband 's mistreatment, Delia finally holds her ground. She defends her job with a skillet.
The short story Sweat written by Zora Neale Hurston takes places in Florida in the 1920s about the marriage of a black couple named Delia Jones and Sykes and how she is trapped in this marriage and is constantly being abused by her husband and uses her fears to his advantage to effect their relationship. There are many themes throughout this short story but the main one that stood out was the strong feminism. Feminism is portrayed in Sweat by the main character Delia Jones which is the breadwinner in the relationship and works as a washwoman and is stuck in a toxic marriage and has to provide for her insecure husband Sykes. Just like how Delia is not privileged due to her race and her gender in Sweat, African American women are also by the same reasons, since slavery they have struggled individually and in groups to overcome the multiple injustices that they and their communities face. The term Black feminism was not a widely used term until the Black women 's movement in the 1970s.
The subject of sweatshop and child labor is one of great controversy. The first thought to mind when speaking of sweatshops is probably a vision of sketchy factories in far off Third World countries such as Bangladesh or China working their employees 15+ hours a day in cramped up in a dust-filled space for little wages. Not in America though, right? Most Americans would be horribly upset if they found out they had been unknowingly supporting a business that uses sweatshops to produce its merchandise. Odds are though, businesses that exploit such labor are being supported in every shopping trip a person takes whether it be shopping for groceries, clothes, jewelry, or athletic gear.
Historical criticism strives to cognize a literary work by examining the social, cultural, and intellectual context that essentially includes the artist’s biography and milieu. Historical critics are more concerned with guiding readers through the use of identical connotation rather than analyzing the work’s literary significance. (Brizee and Tompkins). The journey of a historical reading begins with the assessment of how the meaning of a text has altered over time. In many cases, when the historical context of a text is not fully comprehended, the work literature cannot be accurately interpreted.
