The Declaration of Independence was written by Thomas Jefferson in Philadelphia on July 4,1776. In the Declaration of Independence Thomas Jefferson states “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.” Without these two rights there wouldn’t be any rights. If we don’t have rights of life or freedom there would be no point of having rights of speech, freedom of religion, education, etc. So all the Founding Fathers weren't only thinking about themselves they were thinking about everyone and these rights apply to everyone. This is reliable because this was a section from the Declaration of Independence and since we're talking about the DOI it makes it a primary source.This is influential because this section comes from the D.O.I and these two rights are the most important. A historian interpreter named Howard Zinn interpreted an expert named A People’s History of the United States and it stated “It seemed clear to the educated, upper-class colonists that something needed to be done to persuade the lower class to join the revolutionary cause, to direct their anger against England.” It’s not that reliable like the other evidence mentioned because Howard Zinn interpreted this expert in 1980 so that means he wasn’t alive back in 1776 when the DOI was written.
