In the society of Fahrenheit 451, the government is controlling the citizens by burning all of the books and all of the past. The officials of the town state that the reason they are burning the books is because they are not appropriate and do not approve of the contents within that book. Some people like reading books for enjoyment and for amusement, but other people need it for learning and improving themselves. By burning the books the government could also have the ability to influence people's thoughts. This could easily become our reality because people nowadays do not think about education, history, or imagination. Within the novel the people saw a great issue with the burning of the books because they wanted their children to be able to learn and to read. This is one of the greatest issues because when they do take away the books, how would anyone be able to learn or know how to read. The citizens also would not be able to read if they wanted to do something in their free time. Also, nobody knew what their government was doing with books once they took them away. Their goal was that if they took away the books, then they would be able to control the history because people would not remember anything from before.
