He felt uncomfortable and trapped with the crowds of people, the constant noise and fast pace of everyone around him. “Home throbbed in him like a headache” (page 49).The only time Abel felt free was when he slept and he dreamt of Blueback. Once, he dreamt that Blueback lead him deep into the water where he saw many drowned people including Mad Macka and his dead father. This dream disturbed Abel. Dora wrote letters and sent coral and shells to Abel.
The constitution was a large process and is the “Supreme Law of the Land.” There was a separation of powers when the constitution was being created which resulted in the Legislative, Judicial, and Executive branches of government. During this time there was a meeting called the constitutional convention, where twelve of the thirteen colonies showed up. Two plans were debated during this process of creating the constitution, the New Jersey plan and the Virginia plan. Also happening as the constitution was being created and affect the outcome was the Connecticut compromise, where the two house legislature was made, the senate and house of representatives.
1) As Night begins, Eliezer is so moved by faith that he weeps when he prays. He is also searching for a deeper understanding of the mystical teachings of the Kabbalah. How does Eliezer's relationship with his faith and with God change as the book progresses? At the beginning of the book, Eliezer is very strong in his faith, as shown by his weeping and his yearning for a teacher to teach him the Kabbalah.
He becomes the hunter at these times, the invincible hunter who can lie still for hours, for days, only moving to refuel his body with the medicine, using his osprey’s vision to spot enemy. This shows that when Elijah is using the morphine both his memory and thinking skills become affected. He forgets to talk with a British accent that he uses to impress the other soldiers. He is also unable to think quickly causing the death of Graves. When Elijah injects himself with morphine he becomes separated from himself. His body standing on the ground while his mind is elsewhere.
At this point in Night, Elie is slowly starting to question his faith in humanity. Spoken in chapter three after seeing and experiencing so many cruel things, he is losing his trust in God and in people. When they had first arrived at Birkenau, women and men were separated into two different groups. Following his father, Elie had come face to face with the crematories(machines where people were burned alive). Upon seeing the crematories, Elie had spoken the first part of the quote, revealing his deteriorating faith and disbelief.
This quote shows how Elie's faith went down the hill, He no longer believed God was with him or that God was looking over him. He was really hurt and sad that the God he believed in for a long time wasn't there for him or his pairs. Another Obstacle in the book was when he couldn't believe

Elijah of Buxton, written by Christopher Paul Curtis, is set in a small settlement of runaway slaves in Buxton, Canada in 1860. The settlement compromises of fields with horses and mules along with thick woods. This book takes place during a time of slavery in the United States. Runaways from Kentucky and other Southern states came to Buxton to be free from slavery with the help of abolitionists. In Buxton, there were also children who were born free such as Emma Collins, who is used by the town to draw in runaways, and Elijah Freeman.
Elie's faith is tested many times in night. It is a struggle throughout the entire book and eventually it is lost and once it is lost you can never get it back. The first-time Elie's faith is tested is when he watches the baby's get burned alive in the dark of night when they first enter Birkenau. It is tested that same night as well when he thinks he is going to be burned alive but he still blesses god right before he thinks he's going to die. The next time his faith is when Elie’s faith was tested was on new year’s.
When these people were being treated in such malicious ways, they started to believe that God wasn’t really there for them. They felt as if He wasn 't there to protect them. Sometimes, they started to rebel against their own religion and turn to their worst enemies for faith. Throughout Elie’s memoir, Night, Elie shows that many people, including himself, lost faith during their stay at the concentration camps. Many other victims of the concentration camps lived to see such tragedies that they began to lose hope in God, as well as he did.

During the food shortage, he starts to live off the feeling he gets from killing people. This results in Elijah becoming mentally unstable which further hinders him from coping with his adversities effectively. Elijah choses to forget about his culture which results in a loss of humane beliefs. This is seen when Elijah and Xavier are going to push into No man’s land as they were putting charcoal on their face. “Elijah and I sit together, away from the others, and charcoal our faces.
All throughout the novel, Eliezar and his father stay together through the unfortunate events occurring around them. For this father and son duo to stay together it takes an insurmountable amount of faith to pull through this tragedy together. In the book Night, it references faith or having faith many times. Having faith, which can be the theme of this book, is not only important to Eliezar but also to me.
This is a story about a boy who moves to a new town, and is getting used to the environment. He had to overcome the burden of peer pressure, and he was in much need of God’s salvation even though he was from a Christian family. The title of this book is Message of the Mountain.
