1. Where does Elijah seek shelter at Mt. Horeb? (1 Kings 19:9: “And there he went into a cave, and spent the night in that place; and behold, the word of the Lord came to him, and He said to him, “What are you doing here, Elijah?”)
• The cave was a better source of refuge than the broom tree, but his spiritual condition is still in shambles. The cave represents just another human strategy for refuge, rather than seeking God as his refuge. (Verses from lesson 13: Psalm 91:1-5; Isaiah 25:4-5; Nahum 1:7)

2. God allows Elijah to rest through the night, but in the morning, God speaks to him with a rebuke, addressed to his conscience. 1 Kings 19:9: “And there he went into a cave, and spent the night in that place; and
