The Chicago Alternative Policing Strategy Community policing has produced several programs since its origination. Some of the initiatives were more successful than others but all of the programs have helped to bring community policing to where it stands today. The Chicago Police Department was responsible for constructing a highly respected initiative called the Chicago Alternative Policing Strategy. Beginning in the late 1960s, the United States government decided to start experiments that would encourage police officers nationwide to spend more time and become more involved with the communities they were assigned to.
Many years ago, the first organized American Police Department system was started in Boston, in 1838. (Dempsey & Forst, 20120 p. 7). The Boston Police Department provided 24 hour service which, was funded by the New York legislature. Most of the policeman on the force had little to no training but that changed over time as the importance of law enforcement in society became more prominent. As time progressed so did the police department 's use of technology to better equip the officers with easier means to do their jobs.
"The Snow Walker " is a tale of adventure and survival. A story about how the main characters are going to survive in Northern Territories of Canada after a plane crash. Set in the 1950s, it features an arrogant white pilot, Charlie Halliday, who was bribed with walrus tusks into taking a sick Inuit girl to a big city hospital. He is an ignorant racist. At the opening scene of the movie, we can see how he scoffed at being called "Brother" by an Inuit.
While watching the film, “Cold Mountain” I noticed that there was a Native American soldier fighting with the Confederate troops. I was quite intrigued by this because I was not knowledgeable of Native Americans fighting alongside the Confederates. For this reason, I have decided to base my research paper around this and dive deeper and understand the background for this. According to the website, “Wikipedia”, Native Americans fought for both the Unions and the Confederates.
Have you ever been a hero of your society? Well, Snow Treasure, written by Marie McSwigan, is an exciting story of Norse children who deliver gold for their country when Norway is in danger during World War II. This story of adventure is important to many generations of many people because it teaches the value of bravery and patriotism. I personally admire the character of Peter and his friends and feel that this is a great book to inspire many people in many countries. This story takes place in Norway, during World War II, in about 1940.
The major factors associated with police unionization is unfair labor practices, poor pay and benefits, lack of communication and trust from those who supervised,but were stopped by laws that forbid organization. This is when the National Labor Act change the laws in order to protect police right to unionize. Problem that affect police unionization today are the new people that come in not wanting to unionize,labor contracts, and collective bargain. The traditional paramilitary management model in police departments impact labor relations by bring a bit of professionalism to law enforcement, but it did i through old practices that law enforcement was trying to get away from.
European Influence on American Policing American law enforcement influences can be traced back to the European model of law enforcement. Corruption was not born; instead it has been well documented back to France and England during the eighteenth century. The issues that both France and England encountered are very similar to modern day American police corruption. “The challenges of hiring morally sound people and providing morally sound workplaces are the most obvious” (Sherman, 1974).

The State in Snowpiercer relies upon a deeply entrenched ruling ideology that can be summed up by Minister Mason 's 7-Minute speech beginning with "This is not a shoe."
Robert Frost was a great poet for many reasons. He was well known for the complexity of his poems and the imagery associated with it. He describes places, people, and interactions between them that you wouldn’t think about. He also used very intricate diction in his writing so everyone could understand and appreciate his work. The reason why he appeals to most people is that he tells life lesson’s in his poems.

Plants seem to lose their color and become as barren as that of the sky. Animals and humans seem to burrow up from the cold weather outside. But one can only anticipate the white flurry substance coming from the sky. Snow is a magical thing.
