Circumstances that led to the establishment of the Roman Republic was overthrown of the Roman Kingdom, and the Romans conquered King Lucius Tarquinius Superbus, the legendary seventh king and final king who reigned Rome for 25 years; he was the last of the monarchy when Rome transitioned to the Republic (Roman Republic (509 BC – 27 BC) - History of Rome, 2019).

Generals are known to follow their minds, as they did not become general for anything; these are sharp-minded, tactical wise men; however, the Romans had two consuls to have accountability checks at the highest level of government and power balanced checked by the tribunes of the people. A Consul could veto his counterpart's actions; likewise, the tribunes can do the same to the consuls (The Roman Republic: From Aristocracy to Dictatorship – Constituting America, n.d.).Nevertheless, what happens if the two consuls agree to betray their responsibilities? Their power is next to a king; can they overthrow the sitting king?
Seven kings ruled Rome in the first 200 years. Under the monarchy, each king is credited with establishing a key of Roman tradition, constructing important building architecture that has influenced Western civilization (The Seven Kings | Western Civilization, n.d.).
The Roman Empire was divided into Western and Eastern empires in 286 AD. Its emperor ruled each; the western empire suffered several invasions by the Gothics and, in 455 AD, was sacked by Vandals. The decline of Rome continued; in 476 AD Western Roman Empire came to an end. The Eastern Rome Empire, the Byzantine Empire, survived until the 15th century AD.
