Throughout her career Whitney Houston became an actress, producer, model and one of the most widely know female pop and R&B singers. She was cited as Guinness World Records most rewarded female act of all time in 2009 as well as selling over 200 million records world-wide. She released 10 albums in her career, 3 of which were movie sound-tracks and all have diamond, multi-platinum, platinum, or gold certification.

Whitney Elizabeth Houston was born into an already famous family on August 9, 1963, in Newark, New Jersey. Her mother Cissy Houston, cousin Dionne Warwick, and godmother Aretha Franklin had already made a name for themselves in soul and gospel music. Although critics thought that the album too closley resembled her first album. Rolling Stones quoted, "the narrow channel through which this talent has been directed is frustrating". The album still flourished dispite criticism. The first single "I wanna dance with sombody (who loves me)" became a hit in Australia, Germany and the UK. Whitney became the first artist to reach No.1 on the Billboard 300 albums charts in the U.K. & the U.S. Her next 3 singles, "Didn't We Almost Have It All", "So Emotional", and "Where Do Broken Hearts Go" all reach the top 100 in the U.S., giving her 7 consecutive number one hits. Over a billion people tuned in to see the event and over $1 million were raised for different charities. Whitney also flew back to New York to preform at a benefit concert in Madison Square Garden.
