They can only tell that you’re Divergent from your aptitude tests and your fear tests. They can tell by the way you solve problems and face your fears in the test. In the book, it’s obvious Tris is Divergent. She solves them the way a Divergent would, which is why they suspect her. In the movie, Four teaches her to solve them the way a Dauntless would, which makes more sense.
The conflict in Divergent has multiple types of tension but the most common one is the competition between characters, which helps make the movie dramatic. Beatrice finds out that a certain amount of people with the lowest ranking score gets eliminated, the score increases by competing against other characters, for example winning fights against each other. This is dramatic for the viewers because we are rooting for Beatrice to win although it is highly unlikely due to her being stuck in second last place, creating an atmosphere full of drama and tension. In order for a society to live in unison and conformity, it often tries to categorize its members based off of their personalities and traits. With these categories in places, riffs between certain groups may occur which lead to a higher pressure for unity in the society. In the novel Divergent by Veronica Roth, published in 2011, readers are able to visualize the dangers presented by society when they wish for conformity by using juxtaposition and logical fallacy.
Veronica Roth’s Divergent incorporated flight into the Identity-troubled life of the protagonist, Beatrice. When confronted by which faction she should take part in, she chose Dauntless, a faction that despises abnegation. Not to mention Dauntless is the polar opposite of abnegation. She wouldn’t be identity troubled if she isn’t troubled with her decision. Luckily, she is.
I am reading Divergent by Veronica Roth and the character I chose was Caleb Prior. I chose him because I’m interested in how he can be so selfless. But he he can’t lie very well and he’s good at keeping secrets. He is like this because the faction he lives in they have to be selfless and think of others.
In the book Divergent teenagers are required to take a test and choose one of the five factions to reside in. They can choose to leave their family and move to another faction or stay. When you leave you are not allowed to come back home you belong to your new faction; your new family. The real question is what is my opinion? Well I believe that faction should come first for numerous reasons.

The story follows Tris Prior, a sixteen year old girl who realizes her Divergence, or possession of characteristics of more than one faction. The novel and film adaption of Divergent include many similarities to the gospel, notably the emphasis on a choice of commitment, the concept that we need more than one characteristic to grow, that salvation is brought about through sacrifice, and that humankind is at its heart, evil.
Divergent shows viewers that malicious people are all around, whether one would acknowledge them as evil right away, or if the character is able to hide their secret motives. The dramatic irony this evil antagonist offers, along with a source of conflict, makes authors all around the world include a character like Jeanine in their own work. Reminding most people of one of the most well-known antagonists ever, the devil, the character gives the protagonist purpose, which is another reason writer include this archetype so often. Although a viewer might see Jeanine as a simple character with bad intentions, she actually possesses the qualities of the stereotypical “devil figure” that meets in almost every story they have ever heard. The choice chosen will define their life and it will tell them who they truly are. Divergent is a novel about a society split up into five factions, each faction is dedicated to a different virtue. Each citizen may choose between the faction their family belongs to or change it up, for the rest of their life. Through the novel Divergent, Veronica Roth explores the theme of survival in a dystopian society using the character Tris’ unique talents and intelligence to enable her to have to fight to survive and keep her identity a secret which causes everyone to believe that she can not be trusted and is dangerous.
