Bo Jackson, also known as the beast is one of the few athletes to be named an All-Star in two major sports, and the only one to do so in both football and baseball. He first joined the MLB in 1986 and later joined the NFL and the L.A. Raiders in 1991. Bo isn't just your average athlete. He completes tasks that no regular human can accomplish. For example, when he was playing outfield, a fly ball came well over his head but with his speed and strength he caught up to the ball and climbed on the fence to get the opponent out. He was born on November 30, 1962 and had 9 other siblings. When Bo was around the age of 17, he was recruited to play for the New York Yankees. He turned that offer down and decided to play college ball at Auburn. In school, he led his baseball team to victory; became a football MVP and Sugar Bowl Champ. To top it off, he also qualified to compete in track/field in the U.S Olympics. He was all that people talked about and chose to not brag about his special talents. He made in appearance in the Nike “Bo Knows” campaign through the 1980’s and 90’s. In 1986, Jackson was Tampa Bay’s first draft pick. Bo had his eye set out to play in the MLB, he had dreamt of nothing more. When he was first drafted by Tampa Bay, his contract was worth a quarter- million. He declined their offer due to their lie they told Bo about him coming down to visit while he was still playing college ball. That is immediate disqualification in NCAA rules. He was kicked off the team all because Tampa said it was okay for him to visit. Jackson was very mad considering it was his Senior year and he couldn't play Baseball anymore. He told the Bucs “You're going to waste a draft pick. I promise you that” (ESPN). He then went on to sign with the KC Royals and succeeded there (no surprise). While he was playing in the MLB he was also playing for the L.A. Raiders. He is the only athlete to ever play two major sports and be the best at each one.
