Confronted by an evil pack dog from Spitzenburg, Germany referred to as Spitz, Buck was forced to battle Spitz to the death in which Buck triumphs. Prior to the battle Buck traveled with a team of thirteen sled dogs, including Spitz to a gold mining town during the Klondike, Gold Rush. There, Buck’s master Francois was unable to strike gold and in an effort to repay his debts he reluctantly traded Buck and his team to a tio of inexperienced miners who were out to get rich. John saves Buck from the beating of his master by throwing the miner against a tree. He had warned the miners not to continue because of the melting ice, but the miners did not heed his warning. They rode off with all the dogs except for Buck and perished off the edge of an icy cliff. John Thornton had sparred Buck’s life and kept the dog as his own showing him great loving. John too, sought gold. He found a valley of gold but unknown to him, it was worshiped by the teehat people. One day Buck went hunting and when he returned to the camp he found his beloved John Thornton brutally murdered. Pelted with hundreds of arrows, John Thornton had faced a grim demise. In fit of fury, Buck ruthlessly avenged John’s death. He slaughtered the teehat people that were gathered in the
