Children of the Sun is by Charlotte Prentiss. This novel is historical romance fiction set in the American Southwest approximately ten thousand years after the last Ice Age struck the earth. It is published by Penguin Books USA Inc in 1995, with four hundred and eleven pages. It is about a Native American woman who steps outside of her role to seek revenge. It is part of a trilogy, in which shows the transformation of native people between the ending eras and the news ones coming up. In order to grip the challenges and adventures of the main character, it has to be told straight from them. They know the details and to understand their feelings is an important way to get connected to the book. Each character has their own story, everything that happens in a person's life affects their personality. This is seen within the book. If it is tradition then it is so. In Nisha’s opposing tribe, women had no rights, they are pretty much slaves of the men. However, the women do nothing, their spirits are broken, they just do what they were told. Man are raised that they are supreme and can treat women however they please. All of this is because the one who started the tribe had believed this is how people should live. He found followers and from there the tribe grew. Soon after that the traditions had begun (pg 145-149). It is easily seen that Nisha’s personality is different that those in the opposing tribe. She is untamable which causes problems. All of the women in the tribe are quiet, do their jobs well, and all have broken spirits. Nisha on the other hand is always talking and asking questions, she leaves her duties and wonders where she is not to be (pg 212). Throughout the story, Nisha character is consistent. She starts out with her independent nature and does not let a complete tragedy stop her (pg 255). Her motivation is completely justice. Nisha family and tribe are gone and she wants revenge on the people who cause
