Who Is Francisco Pizarro In The Hall Of Infamy

Francisco Pizarro, an explorer and soldier, was born in 1476 in Trujillo, Spain. When Pizarro was young, he participated in local manorial wars and was a swine herder. He never felt the need to get an education, but considered himself to have business smart. Pizarro had two business partners, Hernando de Lugue and Deigo de Almargo. Where Pizarro grew up, most men became sailors; however, Pizarro was a greedy man, so he became an explorer to get his own discoveries, money, and fortune. Francisco Pizarro went on many explorations with various people such as Vasco Nunez de Balboa, and his business partners, Diego de Almagro and Hernando de Luque. Poor motives and murdering people is what put Francisco Pizarro in the Hall of Infamy. Francisco Pizarro deserves to be in the Hall of Infamy for many reasons; one being he killed many people. After holding Atahualpa, the Inca leader, a native tribe in Peru, hostage and making the Inca Empire pay what would be worth $50 million in today’s money, he ordered the public strangling of Atahualpa. Pizarro thought that if he let Atahualpa go he would come back and kill him. Another fine example of Pizarro’s murder orders was when he ordered the assassination of one of his business partners, Diego de Almagro, in 1538. Pizarro had one of his brothers assassinate Almagro after a dispute

Pizarro did many things to make this damage such as taking lots of their money. In the ransom for Atahualpa, Pizarro was payed with $50 in gold. Soon after, Atahualpa was killed because Pizarro thought he would retaliate. This was the first time the Inca Empire was threatened, so they didn’t have the right supplies to defend themselves. Later, Pizarro destroyed the culture. While there is a plentiful amount of proof of why Pizarro is a terrible person, the process he used to take down the Inca Empire was one of the cruelest things Pizarro
