General Washington singled him out for his intellect (Willadsen, 2011). It is evident throughout his efforts that he possessed a keen intelligence that aided him in infiltrating the enemy’s ranks and in his ability to collect vital intelligence for the war effort (Braisted, 2015). He was a man of presence and character, showing resilience and a willingness to never quit. Despite illness and the knowledge he could be found out and executed at any time throughout the thirteen months he spent with the Loyalists, he continued his mission and frequently attempted escape until finally succeeding in September of 1782 (Braisted, 2015; Elder, 2003; Willadsen, 2011). He led others by confiding his secret to fellow Loyalist Solders and convincing them to defect with him to the Continentals.
George Washington is considered one of the most important figures in American history. In his article, "The Greatness of George Washington," Gordon Wood explores why Washington is still revered today, despite the criticisms he faced during his lifetime. Wood argues that Washington's greatness lies in his ability to embody the ideals of the American Revolution and his commitment to republican virtue. Wood notes that Washington's contemporaries were often critical of him.
George Washington and Abraham Lincoln were both presidents that had a huge impact on the structure of our beautiful country. As they built and thought of knew theories and ideas the country expanded to what is now called the United States of America. With very different times and struggles though both presidencies it was always clear that as leaders of the United States they were going to finish anything they started or fought for to keep the country intact. Even though both these presidents were considered successful they were both motivated and raised in totally different ways. Washington was raised in a wealthy lifestyle as he grew up.
The precedents that Washington set were the greatest of all, but the best examples he mentioned were critical to America. Washington was the first president of the United States. He had served two terms, and warned future presidents not to run for a third term. He believed it would make citizens believe that the government is in power; but truly, the states and people are in control. Based on George Washington’s observations, he warned the people to stay united, stay neutral, and follow the constitution, in order to keep the U.S. stable.
As a young man he served in the army. He provided his aid to the cause of freedom, and liberty for all. He dealt in
He held several political positions and served in several battles. He does not receive a lot of credit for his work because people view him as a traitor to the Union. He should not be viewed as a traitor because he was just serving where he was needed and was fighting for what he
George Washington was a great leader. “He respected all his men and listen to their ideas one by one.” This makes happy his men to be treated with respect to be listening. They feel like humans. Doing this make people want to work that help run well the United States.
George Washington also acknowledge that he made mistakes himself and is far from a perfect individual but made clear to be open minded of criticism and corrections and to seek challenges by taking the easy routes in life. Washington’s Farewell Address is important part of our history and is taught up till this day to young American children in our schools and by Historians but few people understand the meaning and the importance behind the Farewell Letter. The Farewell Address the federal government, warnings against the party systems, the importance of religion and morality, warnings against forming a permanent foreign alliance, and a powerful military. George Washington has an overwhelming reputation by his military service, his position as our first president of the United States of America, and by leaving his position in office by leaving behind his Farewell Address to give present and future Americans insight on the history of our country and what it’s known for. It’s well encouraged to research what American history is about and how we can apply the Farewell Address into our life by living in peace, exercising our freedom of speech and choice or religions, along with respecting our governments and live in unity to achieve success.
He gave it is all and worked his way up to be a general some even called him the best soldier
George Washington, being the first president, felt that in order to maintain structure in the government after he was no longer in charge, had to leave a letter to his country’s citizens. Washington began his address by giving thanks and appreciation to everyone for giving him the opportunity to lead their country and explaining his reasoning for declining another term. Along with these reasons, he pointed out some of the flaws of his presidency, admitting to the public that he was not a perfect American leader and that he is not a stencil into which all other presidents should be carved out of. While he stated that he was not impeccable, Washington did continue on in his address to offer some advice to the future of America. Washington
Although unrelatable and underappreciated in the eyes of modern history, George Washington shows his greatness through his character. Contemporary culture often neglects to recognise Washington’s greatness. Sadly, he has become a figure so far removed from the ideals and lives of modern Americans, that his name often provokes boredom. Nonetheless, his character proved to be perfect for what America needed during his life. His greatness was largely due to chance.
His presidency consisted of so many new and improving ideas. In his Farwell address he said that the nation should steer clear of any involvement with Europe. George Washington also set a new standard for America so to speak, by serving two terms as president. Which wasn’t a normal thing to the nation. However, his presidency helped define the nation.
As the author stated in his book that he does not have the intention to compete with other writers or historians, but his idea was to give a clear an fresh portrait of Washington that focused largely on his characters. I will recommend this book to those that are willing to known Washington and people who are unfamiliar with the founding father of United States. The greatest president that has ever served the United States is George Washington. He was not only the first president of the United States but also the commander in chief of the Continental Army during the American Revolutionary War. He was victorious over the British and quickly became a hero doing so. He helped draft the constitution and with his leadership and courage. As first president, he become a role model for every other present succeeding him and helped create our countries values that we cherish so much today.
Washington knew a strong Constitution had to be in place, which is why he was responsible for the Constitutional Convention. The effects of his inaugural address and presidency really mattered, given he was the first of our many presidents. George Washington proved he truly cared for the American people and the country. He took charge and changed what had to be done, because his speech altered the government and society as we know it today; our Constitution, our executive and judicial branches, and our Supreme Court. While he did emphasize the need for a Constitution, he was not the only one responsible for it’s making.
