What is the answer to the ultimate question of life, the universe and everything? In the book Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy, Deep Thought, the smartest computer at the time, is asked that question. Deep Thought ponders about this for a long time, 7.5 million years to be exact. After 7.5 million years, Deep Though responds with 42, What does that mean? I believe that the answer 42 has to do with what month, date, and year Douglas Adams died and was born. Douglas Adams wrote the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy books. Douglas Adams was born on March 11, 1952 and died on May 11, 2001 due to a sudden heart attack. In his short life he had one daughter, married Jane Belson, wrote eight books, and was working on the movie of a Hitchhiker's Guide to the galaxy. While writing the HitchHiker’s Guide to the Galaxy he did not know at the beginning how the book was going to play out. There are many theories on why 42 is the answer to everything for example; in the book the mice ask what is six times nine, or it could just be that, Douglas Adams liked the number two and twenty-one so he decided to multiply those two together to get 42.
