The death of Robert E. Lee Ewell was out of a horror movie, according to witnesses, Jeremy “Jem” and Jean "Scout" Finch. This movie doesn't start in an abandoned cemetery but in the Maycomb High School auditorium. Occurring here was a pageant run by children. The children dressed in handmade costumes. Ms. Jean Finch wore a ham costume made by Mrs. Crenshaw, a seamstress in Maycomb. This particular costume could only be removed with assistance. After the pageant, Jean Finch departed while still in her suit. She was accompanied by her older brother, Jem Finch. As reported by Jem Finch, he had heard suspicious noises occurring only when they made advancement. They later found out that those noises were made by Mr. Ewell. The police states that Mr. Ewell surged after the children as an act of revenge towards their father, Atticus Finch. The attack was aimed for Scout but the protection of her costume saved her. Egalitarian, what’s your opinion on… Tom Robinson’s verdict Maycomb is a quiet Alabama town. When the town had some excitement, people crowded around to watch it unfold. The dramatic excitement here was the rape charges put upon an African American man, Tom Robinson. In Maycomb, everybody knows everybody. From the people who knew Robinson, he was told to be a respectful man that never causes trouble. Link Deas, his employer, stated “I just want the whole lot of you to know one thing right now. That boy's worked for me eight years an' I ain't had a speck o'trouble outa him. Not a speck.” Mayella Ewell placed charges on Tom Robinson and accused him of beating and raping her. Anyone present during the hearing could see the mixed up stories and complications from Mayella and her father. I believe this shows the miscommunication of the story they conjured up together. Robinson's lawyer, Atticus Finch, pulled apart their stories to prove that Robinson was innocent. The Jury was oblivious and that led to an undeserving
