On August 6, 1945, Hiroshima was unfortunate to be the first city of an atomic attack by United States. Thousands of people were not so lucky to live and tell their story of the aftermath of the Hiroshima bombing. John Hersey is the author of the non-fictional book Hiroshima, where six survivors tell their horrible stories after the bombing. Hersey wrote and publish Hiroshima to give an insight about the experience of what many people went through when the boom hit.
The book started off by telling the time, date, and what the six people were doing right before the bomb went off in Hiroshima. Every civilian in Hiroshima knew someday they would be attacked by the United States, but no one expected this. Many civilians were living their normal lives with their daily routines. Here are a few of the lucky survivors who would live on to tell their horrifying stories when the bomb hit. Such as, Dr. Sasaki a young man who becomes a doctor later in his life. This young man is not yet a license doctor. However, after the bombing in Hiroshima, he played a tremendous role by helping out others, though he could only patch them up at the time. What did impress me was " Dr. Sasaki worked for three straight days with only one hour's sleep"(56). This tells me about Dr. Sasaki heart and will in helping others, in whatever way he could. He worked hard to get through all the injured, not so many people have the capacity to sleep just for one hour and get right back to work. Where Mrs. Nakamura impressed me when her children were buried along with her, but somehow found the strength to free everyone. She showed me how a parent should be in protecting her kids from any
