Introduction Andy Weir the writer of “The Martian” is one of my favorites Sci-fi and Fantasy book which talks about Mark Watney, an astronaut, part of the Ares 4 program is one of the first men to travel to Mars. What should've been his greatest month of his life, turned into a nightmare? After the dust that threatened his MDV (Mars Descent Vehicle) to break. He and his team had to evacuate because if his MDV broke they would’ve been stranded on Mars. But when an antenna broke off a satellite and impaled Mark. His team was forced to evacuate which left Mark for dead. His crew and the rest of the earth thinking that he is dead. Now, stranded on Mars by himself, he is forced to survive or long enough that someone notices that he is still alive. Will he make it out alive?

For example, He starts rationing out his food in order to survive on Mars. Mark plants potatoes to make more food. Besides, If Mark doesn't make food he will die of starvation. Mark tries to make water and water for his potatoes. ( Mark also goes out to find antennas so he can communicate to earth. On page 11) This is some important things that helped Mark to survive on Mars.
Mark is a critical thinker and a problem solver. For example, he found out that he won´t have enough food to last him till help arrives. So he thought of planting potatoes so he can eat them. He needed soil and bacteria for planting so he used poop for bacteria. That is an example, of problem-solving. If he didn´t problem solve he would have starved to death. When mark knew that the hab became a bomb he had fixed the problem on the spot so he can live. That is an example of critical thinking. These are things helped Mark on the long run for
