Who Is Mary Shelley's Frankenstein?

Mary Shelley was no older than myself when she wrote a creation known by most, Frankenstein. Mrs. Shelly went to Switzerland with her husband, Percy Bysshe Shelley, and her two children in the summer of 1816. They were staying next to the famous poet, Lord Byron. The summer wan’t ideal, full of rain and made them stay in their houses for days on end. One day, Lord Byron suggested a contest between them, the Shelleys, himself, and his doctor, to write a ghost story. This was the way Frankenstein came to life.
Personally, I wouldn’t have been able to write a story as great as Frankenstein the way Mary Shelley did. I am surprised that this story was written because of a challenge. I imagine that most horror stories are written because of a traumatic event that has happen to the person who is writing the story. I am petrified that my writing is sub-par for all of my scholarships I have applied for. Never in a million years could I write a book at the age of 18. I have not done anything extraordinary in my life to this point and at my age Mary Shelley was: a wife, a mother of two, and a an author of a book. It is mind blowing how she did it all. The competition that she was writing against was amazing as well. Lord Byron and her husband must have been top notch competitors. I am surprised that Lord Byron's doctor, John William Polidori, was invited to be apart of the competition. Usually house staff are not allowed to really interact too much with the guests of the owner. If Mr. Polidori was a high person in society I can understand why he was apart of the competition. I am not surprised about Mr. Shelley and Lord Byron being in the competition because of the relationship between the Shelleys and Lord Byron, being friendly neighbors. The way Frankenstein was written is mind boggling and I am excited to read the work of Mary
