In this story Jacob has to face whether or not he wants to use his powers and save the lives of his friends, or if he wants to go back to his normal life. Therefore, the lives of Jacob’s friends are in his hands; Jacob has to take responsibility and do what is right. Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children is a story that teaches a valuable lesson that is true for even today’s teenager: with great power comes great responsibility. In Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children, the author uses conflict to teach us that with great power comes great responsibility, which is the story’s theme. For example, in the story Jacob is the only one that can see the Hallowgasts, so he has to protect the peculiar children. The Hallowgasts are bad monsters that try and eat the peculiar children. Jacob has a lot of power over the children, their lives are in his hands, so he has a lot of responsibility to keep the children safe. For instance, my friend was being talked bad about on social media; they could have fought back, but they didn’t because they knew it was wrong. Whenever you are being talked bad about you have the power to either ignore it or to fight back and hurt their feelings. Furthermore, in the future teenagers will run the world, we will be politicians, teachers, presidents, because of this we need to know now what is going on in the world.
