Romeo and Juliet is one of the most famous tragic love stories in literature. The two star-crossed lovers are doomed from the start due to their tragic flaws and the society they live in. Romeo's impulsive nature and tendency to act without thinking ultimately lead to his and Juliet's downfall. Juliet's loyalty to her family and desire to please them blinds her to the fact that their feud with the Montagues is actually the root of their tragedy. In addition, the society of Verona is corrupt, violent and oppressive, further pushing the young lovers towards their tragic end. Ultimately, it is the combination of these factors that make Romeo and Juliet a classic tale of tragedy and doomed love. The deaths of Romeo and Juliet are due to them being doomed. In the start of the play Shakespeare talks about how Romeo and Juliet were destined by fate to die, and shakes explained that they were ´´Star crossed lovers´´. The quote talks about Romeo and Juliet being doomed from the start. Even if Romeo didn't act the way he did he still would end up taking his life with someone else. As Romeo states in Act III, "O, I am fortune's fool!" Here he acknowledges that his actions have been guided by fate rather than reason. In the case of Juliet, her loyalty to her family and her desire to please them blinds her to the true nature of their feud with the Montagues.
