The well-renowned play turned movie Romeo and Juliet is one of the most iconic works of literature in history. Written by William Shakespeare in the mid “1590s” the play tells the tale of Romeo and Juliet, two star-crossed lovers who both die tragically in an attempt to escape their family feuds and start a new life together. Many people are said to play parts in the deaths of Romeo and Juliet. In my opinion, the guiltiest is none other than Romeo and Juliet themselves and Friar Laurence. They are all critical characters in the unfolding of this catastrophic and heartbreaking story. Romeo; a young boy in love with a beautiful girl and whose decisions were quite impulsive and naïve. In many ways, he is responsible for his own death. Romeo makes impulse decisions when he falls in and out of love with Rosaline and Juliet and makes plans to marry Juliet right after meeting her. Before entering the ball, Romeo tells his friends how he had a vision and this is the start of bad things, he ignores his own intuition and continues therefor meeting Juliet. After learning that Juliet is a Capulet, he continues to see her, although he knows that his parents and family would not approve, he sneaks around to see her secretly. Juliet is to blame for her own death because she goes along with Friar Laurence’s plan to fake her own death which leads to Romeo’s extreme depression and anger which ultimately ends in both their suicides. Juliet continues to see Romeo after she learns that he is a Montague. She also rushes into marrying Romeo and does not tell her parents that she is already married when they tell her she is to marry Paris on Thursday. Lastly, when Friar Laurence tries to bring Juliet out of the tomb after Romeo commits suicide she refuses and kills
