Racial profiling is one of the bigger threats to the human society. It has led to numerous acts of violence. In recent times racial profiling led to the arrests of innocent individuals amongst other things. Black people and Hispanics have always been victims to this type of harassment by law enforcement officials. When suspects are detained based off of suspicious behavior, rather than race, police officers catch more suspects. This paper is intended to discuss the crisis that occurred in Ferguson, MO of the killing of Michael Brown and show that Michael Brown was in fact racially profiled by Darren Wilson. The killing of Michael Brown led to an outrage within the black community in Ferguson due to the failure for the indictment of Darren Wilson, the police officer who was responsible for the murder. Michael Brown was shot by Darren Wilson 6 times. The Ferguson community believe the justice system is broken and argue that the killing shows racial profiling at its peak. The Ferguson Police Department left Michael Browns body on the street and they also refused to answer questions to identify the officer that had killed Michael Brown. The New York Times, an American newspaper company, states that “The grand juries task was to determine whether there was probable cause to believe that Officer Wilson should be charged with a crime, and if so, which one.” Darren Wilson should have been charged with murder. There was no need of shooting Michael Brown with several bullets. Darren Wilson thought he had done the right thing, but he had no right in shooting an unarmed black male multiple times. The United States Department of Justice states, “even a relatively routine of misconduct by Ferguson police officers can have significant consequences for the people whose right are violated” (Department of Justice, 6).
