The Man with the Plan
In the play, “The Crucible”, Reverend Hale is sent to help with witchcraft in the town of Salem. (Author Miller is very well known for this interesting but twisted play) Abigail and her friends are caught dancing in the woods. Not only are they dancing in the woods, but they are also naked. Now because of the poor choice of dancing naked in the woods, one of her good friends are very sick. (Can Reverend Hale help them before it gets too late?) In Salem, witchcraft is blamed upon Betty’s illness. When all is said and done, Salem seems to be a very dangerous home for the people living there. Now it is all up to Reverend Hale to fix this terrible act.
Reverend Hale?? Hale was born on June 3, 1636, in Charlestown, Massachusetts. He is the oldest child of Robert Hale. Reverend Hale is invited into Salem to discard witchcraft. He is a spiritual preacher summon to help/fix Salem. Hale devotes himself to his faith and his work. He is a self-inspiration to himself to motivate his ability to this “job”. Sadly enough, Hale is also vulnerable. There is not exact way to make sure that all of this info may be correct. Hale tells Elizabeth and Proctor that she was named in court when he went. Hale questions Proctor about his poor attendance in church because he claims to believe in the faith but he never shows up to church. Hale asks Proctor to recite the Ten Commandments. Only being able to recall 9 out of the 10, Elizabeth reminds him of the forgotten commandment— the commandment forbidding adultery.
