Somebody: The book Holes’ protagonist is named Stanley Yelnats. He got his name from his great-great-grandfather who named his son Stanley and this tradition continued all the way through to the main character. The reason this name is so special is because it’s spelled the same forwards and back. Stanley is a very fat boy who gets made fun of all the time at school. None of the kids are nice to him and even teachers have said something about his weight.
Despite being made fun of all the time Stanley is a very nice person to everyone no matter what.

The reason for his inventions not working could be of their family curse. That family curse goes way back to his great-great-grandfather who stole a pig from a gypsy that cursed his whole entire family. Even though Stanley has weight problems he gives off the impression of being a good kid.
Wanted: The only thing that Stanley ever wanted was to fit in. His whole life he never had any friends at all, he is a nobody. The teachers were mean because they “found it amusing that a little kid like Derrick could pick on someone as big as Stanley.” However this all could change when he went to Camp Green Lake. In his mind he thought that this was a new start for him and no one there knew what he was like at home. None of them would ever know that he got picked on by a kid way smaller than him.
But: In this novel Stanley has a few obstacles in his way. The first one is the person who is called the Warden. She is the one who is making all the kids dig holes out in the desert in the blazing sun.
