The book my literary group was reading is called “Lord of the Flies” which is written by William Golding. This book was amazing in my opinion it was fun to read and went really deep. After I found out what the title means and what kind of fly it was talking about with is a “Beelzebub” is a reference to a demonic fly which is mentioned in “2nd Kings 1:2-3, 6, 16”; This is important to know because you understand the book better; it also shows more meaning to the book and the title and it shows that William Golding really took a lot of time planning this book. A summary of this story would be a plane crashed because of a war. A group of boys from ages 6-12 crash onto an island without any adults. Two boys Ralph and Piggy find a conch shell on the beach. Piggy has asthma so Ralph blew the shell to find the other boys as soon as the boys are all together they elect a leader which Ralph ends up winning and Jack was put in charge of the boys who hunt for food for the group. The boys think there is a “beast” on the island. This book test the mental and physical emotions of the boys; they start to turn savage and argue all the time. …show more content…

I think the tone of this novel or story would be very dark and violent but can also be tragic at times. The main protagonist in this story is Ralph. The main conflict in my opinion is the no adults or rules; It could also be the beast or the savage behaviors. The theme is Civilization vs. Savagery. One of the main symbol was Piggy’s glasses which I think represented the last of the civilization of the boys and when his glasses broke it all slowly faded away and the boys became more and more
