Anyone can be considered sacrificial and outstanding to you matter what their role in your life is based from whether it is a movie, play, or even real life. In this case, Eponine is the most sacrificial and resilient character in the novel Les Miserables, written by Victor Hugo. I think this because he became a changed upstanding citizen from being imprisoned, adopted a young orphaned child, and saved someone’s life. Jean Valjean was imprisoned due to stealing bread to help his own family. He was not doing a bad crime. He was in prison originally for a few years, but many more years were added due to him trying to escape. Total, it added up to nineteen years in prison. Jean Valjean was personally warped from his original self, being in prison does that to you, but when he was freed he slowly, but surely changed into an upstanding citizen. In this case, Jean Valjean saved a life of his “enemy”, Maruis. Maruis wrote Cossette a letter, from the barricade. This led to Vlajean saving Marius’s life, without hesitation. He did so in the act of seeing Maruis weak and hardly making it in the sewer as the barricade fell. “Valjean takes him safely to a caretaker and then disappears”(IMBd), Jean did not leave him to die even though he truly wanted to. This took a lot out of Valjean to rescue Marius. He took him to Javert to get help in bringing him to his grandfather’s care. Valjean sacrificed not only his time and care, but also his safety because Javert was after him for the longest
