Who is rich and who is poor in To Kill a Mockingbird. In To Kill a Mockingbird the Author (Harper Lee) shows that the more money some has, the better their life is. This is shown through the Finch family, the Ewell family, and the Robinson family. How is the social class divided by families throughout Maycomb? The more wealth you have the better your life would have been in this book. Usually if you had more money you would live in the town like the Finches do. If you had less money you would have a house but smaller and a harder life. Finally if you had barely any money you would most likely not have a house and live close to the towns dump or way out of the town. ¨Off the highway, by the dump and past the Ewells residence, down the narrow lane to the negro cabins.¨ (Lee 239)
Are the Finches rich or poor? When Scout asks Atticus if they are rich or poor Atticus says that they are poor, but are they? With the Ewells being very poor, the Finches are considered rich to the rest of the people in Maycomb. Atticus is the lawyer in Maycomb and deffends the blacks of Maycomb.
