In the case of Thor Wignutt, he is very similar to the Norse Mythology god Thor. Of course their names are exactly the same, but there is more meaning behind their personalities.

When people go places and step out of their comfort zones, sometimes they come back a different person. In The Hobbit, Bilbo is an ordinary hobbit, but after his adventure, it is apparent that Bilbo is now a hero. Three events that occur that show this transformation are when Bilbo jumps over Gollum, when Bilbo slays a spider, and when Bilbo travels to the Elvenking and Bard in order to make peace. The moment Bilbo leaps over Gollum demonstrates to the reader how Bilbo is beginning to go from hobbit to hero.

Not only does he plunge into the terrifying lake but he goes to fight Grendel’s mother alone. All the witnesses are amazed he completed such a task. Thorin demonstrates this similarly in his fight against Azog. Azog is a monstrous, pale orc that murders any foes, including Thorin’s grandfather and father, in his way of conquering others. Thorin bravely battles against this enemy with nothing but his weapon and a tree branch as a shield.

Loki was one of the most dynamic and detrimental characters and caused much of the chaos in the realm of Asgard. In Norse Myths and Legends, it states that Loki, half giant, half god, was friends with the mighty gods Odin and Thor (4). Thanks to his close relationship with Odin, Loki began moving up the social hierarchy and became associated with many powerful gods such as Thor. After arriving in Asgard, Loki began causing trouble. However, he was never severely punished for his actions because his affiliations with the major gods made him virtually untouchable.
The Bible has a lot of interesting people, and sometimes there is an impression that some of the people in the Bible are unreal, almost fictional. There are the super holy people like Moses, the prophets, Paul, the apostles after Pentecost. Then there are the super godly warriors like David, Joshua, and some of the judges God raised up to delivered the Israelites from their enemies. Some of those people in the Bible make crazy miracles. It is impossible to ever measure up to any of these people in the Bible.
Robin Hood is a character who lived in the Sherwood forest, well known for being a “hero.” One author, Roger Lancelyn Green, gives many examples as to why Robin Hood was portrayed as a hero. There are quite a few times that the characters call him a hero. For example, at the end of the first chapter, an onlooker of Much the Miller's death describes him as an angel and thanks God for blessing them with Robin Hood, as does Sir Richard later in the series. At the end of chapter eight, Friar Tuck sang a song praising him for being bold and adventurous.
