The Death of Karen Silkwood When tragedy strikes who or what do we look for? Do we look to blame, to hate, to sympathize? The son and daughter of Karen Silkwood, had taken different stands on this question. Karen was onto a breakthrough lead, one that would finally punish an enormous power company that provided nuclear fuel rods for power plants and to soon be exposed when tragedy struck… or was it irony? Karen’s Son takes the side of pure heroism, as he believes his mother did what she believed was right. Nobody will quite ever know, but he believes Karen had good intentions to shut the company down for the right reasons. Because of this traumatic experienced ingrained into her memory, it has lead her to believe that Karen is indeed evil and up to no good (rightfully so). Though it is understandable that the daughter would believe this, because she most likely biased I do not agree with her. I have to agree with the son, because the facts are there and the story lines up with the evidence that was found at the scene of the accident. Large companies often try to prevent any sort of outbreak of negative word or feedback, as it could very well stop all sorts of business coming in to them. If negative word got out, they would surely go out of business. Thinking in their shoes, it would be cheaper to hire someone to get rid of her and put her away for good, before she puts them away for good. Besides the men pulling the strings at the company, it seems as though Karen was the only one with all of the information on the company, enough to bury them.
