In the story Romeo and Juliet Romeo and Juliet die a tragic death to end the family's feud. Many events lead to the death of the newly married couple. Who is to blame for these deaths? Romeo. Romeo is the reason they died so tragically. Romeo is very dramatic throughout the whole play, which makes everything worse and more exaggerated than the situation is. In Act I, scene IV he says he can't dance as if his soul was made with lead so heavy it anchors him to the ground. In Act III, scene III he is very emotional and says that exile is worse than death when it is a reduced punishment. In Act I, scene II Peter says, “.and if you be not of the house of Montagues I pray come crush a cup of wine.” Even after Peter said this Romeo insisted on going to the party. Romeo later on got into a conflict with Tybalt which had Tybalt slain, which resulted in him getting banished from Verona, causing the announcement of their marriage to be postponed. In Act III, scene III Friar Lawrence says “A gentler judgment vanished from his lips; Not body’s death, but body’s banishment.” This line shows Romeo's banishment as his consequence. Others believe that it was Friar Jones's fault for Romeo and Juliet's death. The reason is that Friar Jon didn't deliver the letter in time, telling Romeo the plan for Juliet and him to get them back together. However, Friar Jon was sick and unable to deliver the letter to Romeo and didn't find an alternate solution because he didn't know of the letter's urgency. Romeo could have waited to hear from the Friar to do anything drastic like kill himself, which led to Juliet killing herself.
