Romeo and Juliet is based on an Italian Story called ¨Mariotto and Glanozza¨. This play by William Shakesphere shows the unfortunate endings for the teenagers Romeo and Juliet. Romeo and Juliet's families are in a feud which sadly ends up being the reason for their untimely death. Romeo and Juliet is a sad play, which tends to be said as a ‘romance’, when it's really not. While, some people think that they're in love because of how they'd die for eachother, others think that they aren’t because of how fast they fell in love. Romeo and Juliet aren’t in love, and there's many statements to back this up. He was rushed with his love for Juliet, just as he did for Rosaline. In Act 2 Scene 3, Friar Lawerence says “Of an old tear that is not washed off yet”. Romeo still had tears from crying over Rosaline. That shows how suddenly they fell in love, and it just feels very rushed. They’re still teenagers, and still don’t know the full depths of love. They both aren’t aware of their actions, and how them being in ‘love’ can affect them. They both act oblivious to what's around them, and choose to only look at each other rather than the big picture. Another reason that they aren't in love is the fact Juliet really only used Romeo for the reason that she didn't wanna marry Paris. She didn’t want to marry him in the first place, and that is shown during the play. During one scene Juliet threatens to kill herself while talking to the priest, Friar Lawrence. As stated, “O,bid me leap, rather than marry Paris, From off the battlements of yonder tower” (Act 4 Scene 1) Juliet obviously didn't want to marry Paris, and this has been shown from Act 1 Scene 1, and up. She may have fallen in ‘love’ with Romeo at first sight, but she isn’t really in love with him, she has known him for maybe 5 minutes before she kisses
