Born in 1770 , William Clark was a great American explorer through the exploration of "The Corps of Discovery." William Clark was adventurous,outdoorsy and persistent("William Clark (Biography)"). You will learn that William Clark was not just a an explorer but in his later life became the governor of Louisiana and the superintendent of Indian affairs. William Clark erected many lives with his maps and his journal. William Clark was indeed a great American.

Clark was awarded with 1600 acres of land from the government("William Clark (THE WEST)"). He also was fortunate to get $1,228 because of something he loved doing.When in St. Louis Clark decided we wanted to move on in his life so he decided to travel to virginia in hopes of “wooing”his true love Julia Hancock. Only two years later he was successful in “Wooing” Julia and got married on January 5, 1808. After Clark’s dear friend, Lewis, died in 1809 Clark had to take on responsibility of editing the journals that he and Lewis wrote, (journals came out in 1814). Because of Clark's experience with indians he was promoted to the superintendent of indian affairs.When Julia died, in 1820, she left along 5 children and Sacagawea's child “Pomp.” Clark remarried Julia's cousin ,Harriet Kennerly Radford,in 1821 and took in two more children. when Harriet died in 1831 Clark Decided to move to St. Louis to live with his son Meriwether Lewis Clark, and ended up dying on September 1st, 1838 by what is known as a “brief illness” (lewisclark.net).
