We all know what a powerful dictator Joseph Stalin was. There is no doubt that Stalin was a cruel man who showed no mercy to anyone, including his family. But WHAT IF it wasn’t COMPLETELY Stalin’s fault that he acted the way he acted? Joseph Stalin had suffered a severe heart attack in 1945, but remarkably recovered. It wasn’t until March 1, 1953 he was discovered alive after 16+ hours of lying on his bedroom floor covered in bodily fluids by Peter Lozgachev. The best doctors available were called to his aid. They discovered he was suffering from a Cerebral Hemorrhage (Stroke) and a Stomach Hemorrhage. He died 4 days later. During the autopsy they found the arteries in his brain had hardened and was suffering from a progressive degenerative brain condition called atherosclerosis. He was bullied and ridiculed by his peers constantly throughout his childhood and into his adult years. Stalin had caught Smallpox at the age of seven that left him with small scars all over his face and body. His classmates would laugh at him and call him “Pocky.” The Smallpox also left him with a slightly deformed arm. Stalin’s hometown had only one small police force and was ridden with gang activity, violence, and had no laws. Stalin would find himself in brawls with other kids constantly. His father was a cobbler but had turned to alcohol and was constantly drunk. He began losing his business and became violently abusive to his wife and to Stalin, to the point of breaking bones. When Stalin had told his father he had received a scholarship to go to school to be a priest, his father was so infuriated that he punched out all the windows in the local tavern and beat up the police chief. The police chief was compassionate to his wife and forced the husband out of town instead of into jail. He moved to a different city and left his wife and 15 year old Stalin behind. Adult
