Being responsible for the death of someone is very serious. This means that you are the reason why someone’s life was ended. In the case of Romeo and Juliet, there are three people that are responsible for the deaths of Romeo and Juliet. These people’s actions led to the suicide of Romeo and Juliet. There are two reasons why they are responsible for each person. In the play Romeo and Juliet, Father Capulet, Tybalt, and Friar Lawrence are responsible for Romeo and Juliet’s deaths. First, there is Tybalt who tried to fight Romeo at the Capulet’s party and also killed Mercutio later in the play. First, Father Capulet has a rivalry with the Montague family “Two households, both alike in dignity / In fair Verona where we lay our scene, / From ancient grudge break to new mutiny. / Where civil blood makes civil hands unclean.” (Shakespeare prologue.i.1-4). This event shows that Father Capulet is responsible because his rivalry with the Montague family causes all the trouble in the whole story and is the reason for Romeo and Juliet keeping everything they do a secret. Father Capulet could have a better relationship with the Montague family and everything could turn out better. Secondly, when Father Capulet doesn’t want to kick Romeo out of his party because he doesn’t want to create more trouble (Shakespeare I.v.64-73). This event shows that Father Capulet is responsible because if he kicked Romeo out of the party without trouble, then Romeo would not have started a relationship with Juliet.
