The Board of Directors for Whole Foods is made up of a group of well-educated and accomplished members. They each bring knowledge and expertise from their fields of study and their work background to provide a strong governing body. There are two members of the Board that are employees of the company. John Mackey co-founded and Chief Executive Officer has served in many different capacities within the Whole Foods organization for more than 35 years. Hass Hassan is the founder of Fresh and Wild, LTD, a highly successful organic food retailer in the United Kingdom Whole Foods purchased his company and brought him on board due to his knowledge of the organic food business as well as the business culture of the United Kingdom. Stephanie Kugelman is retired but worked as the Chief Strategic Officer for a World Wide Marketing Communication Company. She has also provided consulting services in business strategy and branding for many years. Jonathan A Sokoloff is the managing partner of Leonard Green and Partners, L.P., one of the nation’s leading private equity firms with over $15 billion of private equity capital raised since inception in 1989. Morris Siegal is now self-employed providing consulting services for investment customers. He was a co-founder of Celestial Seasoning, Inc and served as CEO and Chairman of the Board from 1970 to 2000. In 2000 Celestial Seasonings merged with The Hain Food Group and Sigel remained a member of the merged companies Board of Directors and served as Vice Chairman until retiring in
