Is Enforcing Dress Codes for Students Beneficial? All people have experienced having a dress code at some point in their life. Whether at school, church or even work, dress codes have been a controversial topic for many people. As far as schools, according to an article by the Eric Education Government, “Opinions abound on what students should wear to class. Some see student dress as a safety issue; others see it as a student-rights issue” (Wendell).
Letting up on the dress code gives students to express them selves. This is important because it helps them makes friends easier and faster. It also gives them a chance to show what they like to show people they have the same interests that they might have. If the students want to wear it then they want to try something new and there obviously comfortable in it if they want to wear it. This also gives students a chance to see what kind of style they like and it gives them chances to experiment a little bit, but if the dress code is strict then they will be stuck wearing the same old thing and never try anything new.
Are school dress codes too strict? Over 75% of schools have harsh dress codes, that means only 25% of schools have reasonable dress codes for students. “Students should have freedom but there should be boundaries”(Fiske). Harsh dress codes can cause students and parents to think it is stupid and schools should not have a dress code but then there would be too much freedom for the kids that are still maturing. This shows that it is best for kids to have dress codes that are reasonable.

The purpose of a dress code is to have an unvarying student body, or to limit the chances of students wearing inappropriate clothing to school. Dress code passing attire may include uncomfortable clothing, expensive clothing, or clothing requirements that are unfair to some students.
It would be easier on teachers and students when they get out of bed to get dressed and since everyone would dress the same, people would know if there is a trespasser on the property. Students should wear uniforms to decrease individual appearance differences. More students get bullied in public schools that do not have a dress code. Research confirms that having a dress code makes it easier for students to get along with each other. Nearly 20% of public schools have a dress code.
Overall, schools need a dress code to improve learning, reduce inappropriateness, and have less distractedness by students. There are many reasons dress codes can be good for high schools. First, students will not have as many inappropriate outfits at school. This will be helpful because students will not be as distracted by what other people wear. Dress codes also make people uncomfortable, which means they are attentive.
Having dress codes can also be uncomfortable especially with changes in weather throughout the school year. Most dress codes involve long pants for the boys and skirts for girls. During warm summers it can get real hot wearing long pants and in the winter, the girls would not be comfortable wearing skirts in freezing temperatures. To pay attention in school you need to be comfortable in what you are wearing without distractions. There is also the burden and additional expense to parents with students wearing dress codes for school and the other clothes after school which could double family budgets.
School uniforms give students a sense of unity because they feel like they can fit in without fear of being too different. Making a dress uniform mandatory will decrease sexual harassment, create more interesting humans and make schools safer. A school uniform would make schools safer. The idea of wearing uniforms to schools was originally introduced to reduce violence in schools in 1996 by the Department of Education (Underwood, 1).
Finally, school uniform is important parts of the school. It r is a symbol of a school and it represented the spirit school. University should apply the dress code policy because there are many benefits of wearing a school uniform. It restricts the student's rights to overexpression themselves in school, wipes out the defined line of the social class, decreasing the bullying cases, saved time and cost. According to the above benefits, I believe that all school should apply the dress code policy which is students
