LaShawn Johnson was gracious enough to spend some time with the class reviewing leadership in project management. She presented the class with many real life examples from her 20 year career as a project manager. She also features a PMP and PMI-ACP, Project Management Professional is the most important industry recognized certification for project managers. The project management professional certification signifies that you speak and understand the global language of project management. Project managers have to possess the ability to effectively manage goals related to time, scope and cost. In addition to this product managers need to also be able to manager numerous issues and goals, and be able to lead people. One of the first things that she covered was that there are multiple attributes to leadership in project management. I felt that this statement meant a lot for my in reference to my career. As stated prior I work alongside project managers I am provide the leadership skills for the team. The next attribute that LaShawn Johnson covered in the presentation was that everyone can be a leader. This is not limited to specific groups of people, anyone can be a leader.
