One of the battles that took place during World War II was the Battle of Britain. After conquering many other European countries, including France, Germany came up against Great Britain. Germany was on a total rampage by the time they came up against Great Britain with the thought of total domination. The battle obviously took place during World War II, but more specifically it started on July 10, 1940. This battle lasted for months on end as Germany continued to bomb Great Britain. Adolf Hitler, who was the head commander of Germany, wanted to rule Europe and its entirety. Yes their defense, time management, and commands from Winston assisted their forces tremendously, but there were a few other factors that set them above Germany’s troops. The main reason is Great Britain’s air force was too strong. Germany thought they were at the clear advantage with all their bombings, but Britain had something else in mind. Hitler’s invasion plan was not strong enough to take out Churchill’s air force. The Luftwaffe Air Force failed miserably. The main reason that helped them succeed was their home court advantage. Being invaded instead of doing the invading gave them the advantage of knowing the territory. They knew the strengths and weaknesses of the area and used it to their advantage. Another strategy they used was achieving and maintaining superiority. By doing so they basically had control over the entire battle. In the grand scheme of things, this battle was just a small part of World War II. The question is how did the Battle of Britain change World War II? The main answer is it took away Germany’s and Great Britain’s attention away from the bigger picture.
