The town of Yorktown was founded in 1691 and is mostly known for the battle that occurred on the lands. On September 28, the battle of yorktown takes place in Virginia. George Washington and General Nathanael Greene were in command of the American Force and the British were led by General Charles Cornwallis. One of many significant battles in the revolutionary War, however this one ended the war. The Americans and French were able to surround the British.
The Revolution was a changing moment in American history, which brought us to be emancipated from the British Empire, and in turn create our own country. There was a chance that the American Revolution might have never happened, and the American colonies would have stayed with the British Empire, and we might still be under British control. The event that triggered the Revolutionary War was tighter British control in the colonies. How did tighter British control in the colonies lead to the Revolutionary War?
The british were a force to reckon with, they were the top of the food chain, raining for one-hundred years, destroying powerful nations. A group of farmers, a brewer, and some people who wanted change didn’t seem like they would be any match to the British. A group of people fighting for a cause they believe in is stronger than people fighting for a king. The British brought their own demise by putting tighter and tighter control that led to a revolution in colonial America.
Along with the British raising taxes, they also started making Americans allow British soldiers to live in their houses. The British government elected people in England to be the lawmakers and the Americans felt like the people in England would not understand their needs. With all these things occurring, the Americans never even considered the freedom from England. When the war started, the Americans came to realize it was their freedom they were fighting for and they were going to be independent. As the war went on, the Americans fought harder for their beliefs and freedom.
In turn, the Americans earned independence and a lot of rights that other countries did not have. The American colonists had a large defiance in their hands, due to the fact that the British were extremely robust. Whereas the British had a very successful army and won the majority of their wars, the
Winning a war is not easy, which is why the British hired a highly trained, German Mercenary group to fight the colonists. After a recent string of patriot victories, the British needed someone to help fight the colonists. So, they hired an army from Prince Frederick II of Hesse-Cassel to bolster their ranks, and gain control of the colonies. These mercenaries were known as the Hessians. The Hessians were German soldiers hired to help the British in the American Revolution, but after the war many of them deserted, and settled in America.
In the first place, the British soldiers had great strengths in the American revolution,
In my opinion there are many reason why the colonists won the revolutionary war. Perhaps it was how familiar they were with the land, or their helpful french allies. One of the most important battles of the war was the battle of saratoga. To me this seems to be the most important battle and moment in the whole war. After the colonists defeated the English in the 2 battles of Saratoga, it proved to the french that the americans could win the war and the french should come to aid the americans.
The colonists winning the American Revolution was an anomaly. The colonists were not well supplied or trained, while the British had been unbeatable for the past century. Even when fighting powerful nations, such as France and Spain, the British won. But, the colonists did have many advantages, the main advantage being knowing the geography of the fighting grounds.
The American Revolution was one of the most important wars that was fought in the history of the United States. The Patriots and the British had two different views on how things should be run in America. Many people have different opinions on why, where and how the war was started. There were a few key battles that helped to influence the outcome of the war. The outcome of the American Revolutionary War influenced the United States way of Freedom and the way the American people live today.
How did a small number of American colonists with very limited means beat the large British empire? They did not do it alone. One of the Patriots’ most urgent goals was to gain foreign aid and form alliances with other countries. They succeeded through propaganda, diplomacy, and treaties. Propaganda has helped win many wars.
The British Empire began during the age of discovery between the late 15th century and early 18th century where the unknown lands were discovered, colonized and conquered. The North America in the east coast and large part of Africa were once the colonies of the British Empire. Yet, these colonies each has their own road to independence where the Americans fought with bloodshed in the revolutionary war while the Africans had generally gained their independence in a more peaceful means. It is often argued that diverse ethnicity are prone to war due to clashes of values and beliefs. Yet, there are reasons showing the opposite.
The United States won its independence for Great Britain during the Revolutionary War. America struggled to get the advantage, but eventually was able to win the war. In the beginning it proved difficult to even acquire the troops necessary to fight a war. The troops they got had no adeptness for fighting. They struggled throughout the war and at times their chances for success looked bleak.
They were outnumbered, had little to no equipment, and the British were considered to be one of the most powerful armies at that time. In addition, colonists were angered that the British took control of them when the reason had a hegira was to escape from their tyrannical ruling. However, Americans still had hope along with the determination that they can defeat the insuperable redcoats and break free from the tenacious chains of the British. Because of events like the American Revolution, America became a country that is considered to be a symbol of freedom and
Political, economic, military, and social factors were taken into account during the revolution. These aspects of the war all played a significant role in the outcome of the American Revolution. Since Great Britain was in a tremendous amount of debt, it started social and economic issues with the colonies. The French and Indian War (Seven Years War), fought between the British and the French over the Ohio River Valley was a huge contributing factor to said debt.
