Religions are beliefs and every belief has a story. A religion is a particular system of belief, faith, and worship. An example of a religion is Islam, a religion where the followers, Muslims, believe in only one God, Allah. Muhammad was the messenger for this religion. Muhammad was a prophet who was sent to confirm the Islamic belief, addressed by previous prophets. His first revelation was in 610 AD. On a night where he was in a cave near Mecca, the angel Gabriel came to him. He demanded Muhammad to read something. What he read eventually became a part of the Qur’an. Without a doubt, military conquest was one of the reasons why Islam spread so quickly. The Muslim community spread through the Middle East with the conquering of other territories. The success of all the military campaigns also allowed the religion to spread. To do this, they had to use very creative tactics [Doc C]. For example, one of the most successful conquests happened soon after Muhammad’s death. The Muslims had a major conquest in Arabia. Another example is in Document C. Document C has a map of the land the Muslims had in their power. It was quite a bit of land under their control. However, although they did conquer other lands, they seemed to be kind about it and to the people around. To prove this, Document F quotes, "We like your rule and justice far better than the state of oppression and tyranny in which we were." This quote proves that the Muslims were able to relate to the people of the places they conquered. It also shows that since the people liked how they ruled, they would probably switch to the Islamic religion. Also, Document D states that Muslims always used peace towards each other.
