Why Islam Spread So Quickly Islam is the second largest religion in the world, and is also one of the fastest spreading religions. In 610 CE, a merchant from Mecca by the name of Muhammad was on one of his many trips to a cave in Mount Hira. This one was different, though. He was visited by the archangel Gabriel. He told Muhammad that the was only one God. That God’s name was Allah. He was so frightened to tell anyone in the city of his experience, except his wife and her cousin. In 612 CE, after receiving the words of Allah for two years, he told the public in Mecca what he had been experiencing. This came with talking of importance to charity. Trade helped people spread the idea of Islam around to their countries/territories. Document A helps support what I am trying to say. In Document A, it shows the trade routes. On almost every single one, they stop at Mecca. That implies that new people are coming in, and out every single day. They would pickup the information on Islam. Then, they could spread it to all of the places they were going, or there homelands. My second point of trade would be that Mecca was a trade center oasis. I3 of our notes supports that fact. It states that Mecca was a trade center for goods going to Syria and Iraq. This tells us that these people were probably spreading Islam to Iraq and Syria. That is where they were headed, and they picked up the information on the way, and told people about it. My final point of this topic is that Mecca was connected to many trade routes, making it easier to lead military campaign through the trade routes. In Document A, it shows the trade routes. In Document C, it shows the way the military campaigns went out. It looks to me as if they used the trade routes to move there military on to other countries and territories.
